The Secondary School is organised into three sections, based upon age on entry, each with it’s own characteristic curriculum. The school operates an 8 period day with two short rest breaks.
The English-medium curriculum in Key Stage 3 (Grade 7-9) is broadly based upon the National Curriculum of England. This is complemented by our offer of courses in Arabic language, Islamic Studies and Arabic Social Studies delivered in the medium of Arabic. Cultural Studies, PSHE and physical education are also offered but are non-examinable.
During Key Stage 4 (Grade 10 and 11) students follow a core curriculum of IGCSE subjects in English language, mathematics, and double award science. Students may elect to take optional subjects in French, travel and tourism, art and design, ICT, food and nutrition and business studies. In addition, we deliver an Arabic-medium offer following the UAE MOE Curriculum in Arabic first language and Islamic Studies. Cultural Studies, PSHE and physical education are also offered but are non-examinable.
At Key Stage 5 (Grade 12) entry is dependent upon achieving well in the IGCSE examinations. Students may elect to take up to three option choices at Advanced level (A-level). Current option choices include: Art, ICT, Business Studies, Mathematics, English literature, French, Chemistry, Biology, Physics,Humanities, and Travel and Tourism. Arabic language and Islamic Studies are also compulsory.
