In FS1 this week we have been learning about ‘The Lifecycle of a seed’. Over the past few weeks children have watched lots of videos about how plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables grow.
They have planted flower seeds, herb seeds, apple and date seeds and have been closely observing the growth and change in them. This week the children have been able to use all this information and their own observation to talk, using their own words about how a seed grows and changes. Children made their own pictures representing their own understanding of the life cycle of a flower. We are busy making a new display to show this.
This week as many of you know was ‘Eat Right, Get Active’ week. Thank you to all parents who generously brought fruit to share with the children.
The children enjoyed a variety of delicious fruit. The wonderful thing was children noticed lots of seeds in different fruits.
Maybe you can grow some seeds at home and let your child tell you how to plant them. You will be amazed at how much they have learnt.
