Welcome back and we hope you all had a restful break. Our topic this term is “Fairy tales”. These two weeks we focused on reading the story ‘We are going on a Bear Hunt” the story followed the intrepid family on a bear hunts through grass, forest and even snow. The children retold the story and acted it. The shared area has had some wonderful transformation of the role play area and working stations for this term. There are castles caves/tents; this helps the children to develop their language and communication skills as well as their imagination.
This month we have enjoyed celebrating the school’s biggest celebration of internationalism and intercultural awareness to date, and it was a great way to start the term 3.
International Day was an opportunity to bring fun into learning and to celebrate the year of tolerance. This event allowed the students to teach each other about different heritage
Thank you to all the families who have put a lot of work into the outfits, and as we always have with these days the parents generously provided plenty of native food for each country. Every class chose a country to showcase, with FS 2 a girls presented Malaysia, FS 2 b girls presented Jordan, and FS 2 c presented USA. The class teacher guided students around the FS department so everyone got to see each other’s work. It was a celebratory mood in the classrooms, and thank you to all the parents for their fantastic food and costumes…
We have also celebrated Haq al Laila Hag on the 15th day of the month of Sha’aban and this year, it fells on April 21. FS 2 children had a fashion show were they did a cat walk to show off their traditional cloth and they used the traditional message to ask for sweets when – “Aatona Allah Yutikom, Bait Makkah Yudikum”, which in Arabic means, “Give us and Allah will reward you and help you visit the House of Allah in Makkah.” They were showered with sweets from their friends as they went around singing.
We have also celebrated World Book Day at Al Shohub on Tuesday the 23rd April 2019. We have loved all who have got involved by dressing up in their favourite book character and/ or brought in their favourite book.
