Year 1 have had an extremely busy and enjoyable time this March!
We had our Sports Day. It was a very active and fun day. We took park in a huge variety of activities such as rope pulling, egg and spoon, obstacle course, running races and even dance activities. All the children participated within their houses: Saqr, Najm, Nakhla and Kitab. Each child had a chance to represent their house and year group in a number of activities. All of Year 1 received certificates for their amazing enthusiasm, participation and team work!
1C treated all of KS1 to a fantastic assembly based on the Science topic of ‘The Life Cycle of the Butterfly’. They taught the rest of the classes many new facts about ‘Butterflies’, ‘Caterpillars’ and ‘Chrysalis’. They sang some songs and each child spoke on the stage. They made beautiful butterfly artwork to include in their assembly. Great work 1C!
Year 1 went on a fantastic field trip to Umm Al Emarat Park this March. It was a really fun trip. We sang on the bus and looked at all the different things that we passed on the way. When we arrived we began our trip. We went to the animals and even got to feed them! There was a camel, goats, sheep, horse, rabbits, tortoises and more. Next we took a tour around the park. We got to explore some fossils, recycled a bottle to use to grow plants and planted a seed to take back to school and grow. We also did an experiment to use rocks, sand and charcoal to make dirty water filtered to clean water. We learned about life in the desert long ago. We learned about Camels too! We also went and seen the organic food growing in the gardens and the wide range of plants they have there. It was a really fantastic trip and everyone was an incredible role model for our school!
Last week was Eat Right Get Active Week. Each child got to try and enjoy a wide variety of fruit and vegetable throughout the week along with taking part in the Dance off! It was such a treat!
